Working step – by – step, create books that can be hand held, wall hung or sculptural. This class celebrates how basic paper folding, cutting and gluing can yield endless possibilities. All levels of Bookbinding experience are welcome.
The instructor will cover:
- Exploration of simple paper folds to create various small Book Models
- Glossary and demonstration of techniques and terms common to bookbinding
- Adapting techniques for both common easily sourced inexpensive papers as well as fine art papers.
- Strategies for making multiples or editions
- Scaling model sizes up or down
- How to create your own samples of: Origami Book/JapaneseAccordion/Flag Book/”Hedi Kyle” Pocket Accordion/Popup Accordion/ to take home
- A bibliography of her favorite books about Bookbinding

Instructor Bio
Michelle Wiebe is a Cochrane, Alberta-based artist focused primarily on painting, printmaking and letterpress. With a great fondness for all things print, you can find her fixing rusty presses or spending time printing at Alberta Printmakers. Michelle is a passionate instructor with a deep love for teaching, she makes it her goal that students leave her class with quality work and the confidence to continue building their new skills.
