We generally review and process applications on a quarterly basis during the months of January, April, July & October. If you have a clean-up event coming up that you would like to use these tools for, please note this in your application.
Eligibility:
- Grants are available on a rolling basis to established cleanup groups.
To be considered an established cleanup group, your group must meet at least one of the following requirements:
1) Group was awarded a Tool Starter Kit Micro-Grant and has completed all grant requirements within one year of application date.
2) Group has hosted at least 5 cleanups within one year of the application date.
- Groups can receive 1 grant / 12-month award period.
- Grantees must agree to host at least 6 cleanup events over a 12-month time period starting from the date that tools are received. These events must be free to attend and open to members of the public regardless of race, gender, religious identity, disability, sexual orientation, or the age of participants.
Tool Grants Include:
Amounts of $300 will be awarded to use towards purchasing tools and supplies for each group. Selected grantees will be provided a list of tools and supplies to select from to use up their $300 credit. Supplies/tools needed outside of this list may be requested and are handled on a case-by-case basis.
Grant Reporting Requirements:
1. Complete and submit the DSNY Volunteer Cleanup Application two weeks prior to each cleanup, to provide DSNY with information about where your event will take place, as well as where you will leave filled bags for DSNY to collect. Please copy volunteer@sanitationfoundation.org when emailing customerservice@dsny.nyc.gov.
2. Complete a Post Event Survey within two weeks after each event.
3. Upon the completion of the reporting period, the grantee will be sent a survey to provide feedback about their experience. Survey responses will be anonymous, and responses will not have any influence over award decisions for future grants.
Additional details about reporting requirements will be included in grant award letters.
