I wish to become a Rockwall County Extension Volunteer Master Gardener. I understand that to be certified as an Extension Master Gardener, I must complete the 12-week classroom training instruction, finish all quizzes/exams with an average score of 85% or higher, present a ten minute talk on an approved topic, complete 72 hours of volunteer hands-on training work and report my work hours through an online process. I understand that 3 hours of my hands-on training must be spent at the Rockwall County Master Gardener Office assisting clientele and office staff of Texas AgriLife Extension Service with horticulture related questions and programming. At least 6 hours will also be spent in the Discovery Garden. I understand that I can sign up for more than one hands-on project and volunteer more than the required number of hours.
Before becoming an Intern, I must pass a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension required background screen. If I am accepted as a Rockwall County Extension Master Gardener Volunteer intern, I will abide by all regulations and recommendations of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, the Texas Master Gardener program, and the Rockwall County Master Gardener Association. I agree to provide Texas A&M University/ land grant university research-based pest control recommendations even if they include synthetic chemical practices.
I understand that as a Rockwall County Extension Master Gardener, I am a representative of the Rockwall County Extension Office, serving under the supervision of the County Extension Agent - Agriculture/Natural Resources. I agree to represent the Extension Office and Association in a professional manner and reflect a positive image, respect civil rights, confidences and clientele information, and to enjoy my volunteer time.
