Governmental Affairs Committee (via Zoom)
Purpose: Participation in the Governmental Affairs Committee is a great way to expand your knowledge on local issues that affect business and the economy. The committee is a place to become informed and share that information with the Chamber membership at large.
Commitment Level: Attend monthly meetings and engage in discussions. You may be asked to assist with the State of the South County, Candidate Forums, and Meet the Candidate events.
Meets on the fourth Friday of the month at 8 am to 9:15 am January through October via Zoom
Chamber Ambassador Committee
Purpose: Ambassador Committee members help educate local businesses about the programs and services available through the South County Chambers of Commerce. Ambassadors welcome new Chamber members, act as greeters at Chamber events, and facilitate interaction at all Chamber functions.
Commitment Level: Attend monthly meetings, ribbon cuttings, mixers, and solicit auction items for the Chamber's Annual Dinner & Recognition Awards. Ambassadors may be asked to help with membership drives.
Ambassadors meet on the second Thursday of the month from 8 am to 9 am from January through December.
Annual Dinner Planning Committee
Purpose: This committee starts meeting in the spring to plan the Annual Dinner & Recognition Awards in October. The award presentations include 2023 Business of the Year for South County, 2023 Ken Talley Youth Service Award, and 2023 Chamber Ambassador of the Year. The Annual Dinner is also a time to acknowledge current and retiring Chamber Board members.
Commitment Level: Attend monthly meetings and engage in discussions. Assist with the planning and execution of the Annual Dinner.
Meeting dates and time are established at the first meeting that takes place in April each year.
4th of July Fireworks Sales Committee
Purpose: The Chamber hosts a fireworks fundraising booth in the city of Grover Beach during the time frame of June 27th through July 5th (these dates include estimated setup and tear-down days). All profits fund the Chamber's efforts to support local businesses in our community. Coordinate fireworks sales, inventory, point-of-sale transactions, and volunteer signups.
Commitment Level: Attend monthly meetings and engage in discussions. Assist with the planning and sales of fireworks at the fireworks booth.

Foundation Committee
Purpose: This group will create a Chamber of Commerce Foundation 501(c)(3). This task force will create the basis for the Foundation and write the bylaws. Once approved by the Chamber Board of Directors, this group will help establish the existence of the Foundation Board of Directors and familiarize them with the structure and bylaws for the organization.
Commitment Level: Attend monthly meetings and engage in discussions. Assist with the planning and creation of the Foundation. Once the Foundation is established, this committee will dissolve.
Meeting dates and time are not yet established.
Legislative Papers Committee
Purpose: In order to ensure the economic stability of South San Luis Obispo County, the Chamber recognizes the necessity of properly balanced legislation and policies that encourage business attraction and growth. The Chamber supports a proactive approach to local legislation including research, analysis, education, and wide dissemination of proposed legislation that affects local businesses.
Commitment Level: Attend monthly meetings and engage in discussions. Assist with the planning, updates, and changes to the Legislative Papers.
Meeting dates and time are established at the first meeting that takes place in April. Once the papers are approved by the Board, this committee will dissolve until the following year when the Governmental Affairs Committee asks that the papers be reviewed.
Resource Fair Task Force Committee
Purpose: To create an event that supports the business community by providing the tools necessary to hire and retain their workforce. This committee will create and implement the annual Resource and Job Fair. Partnering with San Luis Obispo County Workforce Development, the South County Chambers will bring a Business Resource and Job Fair to the business community in South San Luis Obispo County.
Commitment Level: Attend monthly meetings and engage in discussions. Assist with the planning and execution of the Resource Fair that takes place in late spring.
Meetings are the 4th Wednesday of the month from 8:30 am to 9:30 am.
Business Roundtable Committee
This group will review, create, and invite businesses to participate in lateral networking and roundtable discussions.
Commitment Level: Attend monthly meetings and engage in discussions. Assist with the planning and implementation of the Business Roundtables. This is a task force that will meet two to three times each year to establish a meeting schedule.
Marketing Committee
This group will continually review and create marketing strategies for the Chamber based on technologies available and the needs of the business community. Website and e-news policy and strategies will be created and reviewed by this committee and recommendations submitted to the Chamber Board of Directors.
Commitment Level: Attend monthly meetings and engage in discussions. Assist with the planning and implementation of marketing strategies and policies for the Chamber. Meeting times have not yet been established.
