Before continuing to the next section on Work experience, kindly read the information below on NOC codes & TEER:

Canada uses the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system to classify all occupations for immigration purposes. NOCs are grouped under TEER categories:

    TEER 0 - management jobs

    • ex: restaurant manager, mine manager, engineering manager, etc.

TEER 1 - professional jobs that usually call for a university degree

    • ex: engineer, financial advisor, dentist, architect, etc.

TEER 2 - jobs that usually call for a college diploma or apprenticeship of 2 or more years, and supervisory occupations

    • ex: chef, plumber, electrician, web technician, etc.

TEER 3 - jobs that usually call for a college diploma, apprenticeship of less than 2 years, or more than 6 months of on-the-job training

    • ex: cook, butcher, truck drivers, baker etc.

TEER 4 & 5 - other jobs that usually require a high-school diploma, or on-the-job training of several weeks

    • ex: server, receptionist, janitor, retail salesperson, etc.

For each paid job (occupation) you've had in the last 10 years, please determine which falls under TEER categories 0, 1, 2, 3. Express Entry programs only accept "skilled work experience" from which TEER 4 and 5 jobs are excluded.

You may also use the Find your NOC tool online.

Skilled work experience in the last 10 years (calculations)

    (for your reference only)

    Full-time

Based on your answers, in the last 10 years, you have worked full-time (at least 30 hours per week) for a total of {skilledjobsftmonths} months. Which is equal to {skilledjobsftyears} years of full-time work experience.

    Part-time

Express Entry requires the full-time equivalent of your part-time work to take it into account. Based on your answers, in the last 10 years, you worked part-time for a total of {skilledjobspthours} hours. Which is equal to {skilledjobsfteq} years of full-time work experience.

Total Canadian skilled work experience, if any: {skilledjobscanadianxp} years

Total foreign skilled work experience, if any: {skilledjobsforeignxp} years

Total skilled work experience: {skilledjobstotal} years

Please note these totals for the next questions

If you think this is not accurate, please check again your answers to the previous questions or do your own calculations. Please note that any additional hours worked over 30 are not taken into account.

One year full-time equals at least 1,560 hours (52 weeks multiplied by 30 hours).

    Example in part-time equivalent: 15 hours a week for 24 months = 1,560 hours.

Express Entry requires the full-time equivalent of your part-time work

Based on your previous answers, in the last 3 years, you worked part-time {ptcalculation[1]} hours per week for a total of {ptcalculation[2]} months.

Therefore, the full-time equivalent of your part-time work is {cecpteq} years.

If you also worked full-time in a skilled occupation in Canada in the last 3 years (30 hours per week and above), please add the full-time employment period length to the full-time equivalent of your part-time work ({cecpteq} years) and move to the next question.

Please note that any part-time work that occurred while also working full-time at the same time is not admissible.
