If we used an Adhesive Bandage:
- Adhesive bandage can be left on 5-7 days.
- While bandage is on you do not need to do anything.
- Bandage may fill with fluid, which is a build-up of blood, plasma, and ink residue.
- Reasons to take bandage off prior to 5-7 days include:
- Bandage peeling off on its own
- Fluid buildup is leaking from bandage
- Fluid buildup has dried out and become crusty due to air getting in
- Whole area of bandage is red and irritated due to adhesive allergy or bandage pulling at the skin causing irritation
After Bandage is removed, Please follow Normal aftercare procedures
If we did NOT use a Adhesive style bandage follow the following aftercare
TATTOO AFTER CARE
- Leave the bandage on for at least 1-2 hours.
- Wash your tattoo gently with warm water and unscented antibacterial soap after removing the bandage.
- Pat your tattoo dry with a clean paper towel or let it air dry for 10 minutes.
- Apply a thin layer of unscented, non-petroleum-based moisturizer like Aquaphor or Unscented Lubriderm over the entire tattooed area 3-4 times a day for the first 2-3 days.
- After the first day, wash your tattoo 3-4 times a day with unscented liquid anti-bacterial soap.
- Avoid exposing your tattoo to direct sunlight or submerging it in water for at least two weeks. Do not soak in a bath or hot tub or swim in a pool, ocean, or any body of water.
- Wear loose-fitting, breathable clothing over your tattoo for the first few days.
- Do not scratch or pick at your tattoo.
- Avoid physical activities that cause excessive sweating for at least one week.
- Only touch your tattoo with clean hands.
- If your tattoo feels itchy, lightly tap the tattooed area or apply a cold compress.
- If you experience any unusual pain, redness, swelling, or discharge from your tattoo, seek medical attention immediately.
Remember, your tattoo will take several weeks to heal completely, and the care you take during this time will determine how your tattoo looks for the rest of your life. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact your tattoo artist.
