ACTIVITIES — I am voluntarily participating in the Governor's One Shot Turkey Hunt 2026 (the "Event") organized by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Foundation, Inc. ("TWRF"). The Event involves spring wild turkey hunting with shotguns on private rural properties. Hunting takes place in the early morning hours, beginning before dawn. I will be assigned to a volunteer guide and a designated property. Activities include walking through woods, fields, and uneven terrain; sitting in ground blinds or against trees; calling turkeys; discharging shotguns; and riding in vehicles, trucks, UTVs, or ATVs to reach hunting locations.
RISKS — I understand and accept that the following risks exist. This list is not exhaustive:
- Hearing damage from shotgun discharge, even with ear protection
- Eye injury from ejected shells, debris, or vegetation
- Burns from hot firearms or spent shells
Firearm malfunction or accidental discharge
- Shoulder injury or bruising from heavy-recoil turkey loads
- Being mistaken for game by another hunter
- Wildlife encounters, including snakes, insects, and wild animals
- Tick bites and tick-borne illness (spring turkey season is peak tick season in Tennessee)
- Trips, falls, and injuries from uneven terrain, fallen trees, fences, ditches, or creek crossings
- Injury from riding in vehicles, trucks, ATVs, or UTVs on rural property
- Pre-dawn movement in darkness with limited visibility
- Exposure to rain, cold, heat, or lightning
- Allergic reactions from plants, insects, or environmental exposure
