90% of patients who have Phase I orthodontics will need a Phase II once the permanent teeth have erupted. I understand that Phase I is an “interceptive” treatment used for growth modification or to make space so all of the permanent teeth can erupt. Phase II is the “comprehensive” treatment to align the teeth and correct the bite once we have all of the permanent teeth have erupted. I also understand that Phase I and Phase II have separate financial contracts and my insurance benefit (if applicable), only has one lifetime maximum that can be used between both phases of treatment, unless a change in carrier occurs.
