This form is for students who are committing to participating in the 2023-2024 Hickory High School Marching Band. Please fill out the following and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to email Ms. Daye and Mr. Reed at directors@hickorybands.org.
Please understand, by filling out the following information and clicking submit you are submitting an electronic signature stating that you understand all band fees, Indianapolis trip fees, student expectations and calendar information. Also, you will be asked to turn in the deposits to secure your position with the HHS Marching Band. Hickory Band Student Conduct Expectations
All school rules and policies apply to band members when those students are with the band. Violations of these policies will be handled as outlined in the Hickory High School Student Handbook and Hickory Bands Handbook and may result in disciplinary action on behalf of the Band Program. Disciplinary action is at the discretion of the HHS Administration and the HHS Band Directors.

Summer Camps, Rehearsal and Performance Expectations
August rehearsals are mandatory. Normal Marching Band Rehearsals Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 4:15pm-7:00pm are mandatory.
We understand that it is mandatory for our student to participate in the entirety of the summer camp and clinic schedule. We understand that failure to attend rehearsal may result in removal from a portion of or the entire performance.

When school begins, rehearsals are on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4:15pm-7:00pm and are mandatory.
We understand that normal, after school rehearsals on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are mandatory and that absences may result in the removal from the Marching Band.

Financial Commitment
Chesapeake Public Schools only provide school bus transportation to three competitions. There is no other money allocated to the operation of high school marching bands which makes the Marching Hawks self-funded through dues and the Hickory Band Parents Association 501c3. The Band Directors, along with the HBPA strive to provide each marcher with an exceptional educational and extracurricular experience while keeping the costs as affordable as possible. All marchers pay dues and work to keep fees low by participating in the required fundraisers. Fees paid for each marcher only cover approximately half of the expense required to train the fine musicians produced by Hickory Bands. Timely payment of fees by all families is crucial to the success of the Marching Hawks. With that being said, we never want any marcher excluded from the band because they cannot afford to pay. If your family is facing a challenge with paying the fees, please contact the HBPA Treasurer as soon as possible at Treasurer@hickorybands.org
We understand that participation in the Indianapolis Bands of America trip is required for membership in the 2023 HHS Marching Hawks.

By signing below, we understand the financial commitment, time commitment and expectations of membership in the 2023 Marching Hawks, including the Indianapolis trip. We understand that policies outlined in this commitment form, along with the 2023-2024 Hickory Bands Student Handbook are the minimum expectations for all students and that not abiding by these policies may result in removal from the band program or other actions deemed appropriate by the Band Directors.
