First Holy Communion Preparation Course 2023 - 2024
Dear Parents / Carers,

Thank you for your interest in enrolling your child to our First Holy Communion Preparation Coures 2023-2024.

This course is for children who;
- will be Year 3 or above in September 2023, and
- currently attends a Catholic primary school
- OR
- are attending Non- Catholic school AND have just finished the induction course at Parish (Catechist: Catherine Harward)
If your child does not meet the above criteria, pleaese contact Parish Office (elthamcommunion@rcaos.org.uk) for guidance.

This course will start in September 2023 and finish in April 2024.

The children who attends this 6-month course will receive their First Holy Communion during one Sunday Mass between the end of April 2024 and throughout May 2024.

Please read below before starting to fill this form:
1. Baptism Certificate: You will be asked to upload a copy of your child's baptims certificate as you progress with this online form. This is a mandatory requirement for enrolment therefore you will not be able to submit the application without the relevant certificate in hand.
2. Missing Certificate: If your child was baptised at Christchurch, and you are unable to locate the original Baptism Certificate, the Parish Office will assist you to re-issue a certificate at the admin cost of £10 per certificate. Pleaes email the Parish Office (eltham@rcaos.org.uk) with your child's full name, DoB, and the date of Baptism inculded.
3. Course Fee: the cost to enrol your child to the coure is £55 per girl, and £63 per boy as all boys are required to wear a customised tie on their communion day. These funds will be spent on course books, hire of the hall facilities and all background works that are reqired to have the course run smoothly.
4. Selection of Communion Mass Date: you will be asked to select 3 dates in the order of your preference before submittng this form.

PLEASE READ THROUGH THE BELOW AND SIGN TO CONSENT.

I / WE wish to enrol my/our child in the preparation programme for the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist and the Sacrament of Reconciliation and consent to my/our child attending catechetical sessions at Christchurch.

CHRISTCHURCH PARISH (Priests, Parish Catechists, Parish Office);
- Will help your child to understand the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church Sacrament of Holy Eucharist and the Sacrament of Reconciliation using the books selected by the Parish Priest;
- Will guide and support parents as they contemplate their Faith while working with their child;
- Will provide a safe physical/emotional environment for your child;
- Will include and treat equally children of all abilities.
PARENT(S) / GUARDIAN(S) and CHILD
- Will commit to support and encourage their child to work on the books provided before and after each session
- Will commit to participating in the preparation programme by bringing their child to all the catechetical sessions (if more than 3 sessions are missed, you may be asked to defer your child’s First Communion to 2023-2024);
- Will commit to arrive and collect children at the times agreed for the catechetical sessions and at the Celebration Masses;
- Will make the parish catechist aware of any special needs of the child - bearing in mind the length of the catechetical sessions;
- Each child will have respect for the children in his/her group and for the catechist;
- Each child will come to the sessions with the catechist understanding that they are there to learn more about Jesus in the Sacraments;
- Will commit to contact our Safeguarding Representative Team or the Parish Office as soon as any concerns arises in relation to the course setting.

First Holy Communion Mass will be a part of Sunday 9.30am Mass or 11.30am Mass of the dates reserved by Fr John.

As these Masses are open to all parishioners, your child will be allocated with one piew / bench to accommodate his/her family and friends, therefore please make sure of limiting the number of family members / friends to bring to your child’s FHC Mass.

As the Mass dates reserved are still over one year away therefore please be advised that these dates are subject to change due to unforseen event(s).

In regard to the time of Mass, 9.30am or 11.30am, you will be allocated by our catechist team therefore please be advised that you may be allocated on either time.
