Calling all local gardeners, farmers, and earth-tenders who work with seed!
This survey was created to assess community interest and needs in a local seed library, and aims to be intersectional in its approach. Recognizing that seed is with us today because of the work of stewards since time immemorial, we welcome your participation in shaping how that history can be honored in the context of a local seed library. We also recognize that food and seed sovereignty is needed now, as we reimagine and rebuild our food system in the face of the corporate powers that have greatly undermined our collective health.
The Humboldt area is home to a diversity of people: 11 tribes, various immigrant communities, diaspora members, a wide range of farmers, and more. How might a seed library function to best serve our bioregion? Perhaps it is beyond just a place to “get seed”? How can we work together to support each others’ access to healthy, affordable, culturally appropriate food? This survey aims to be a first step in beginning to answer these questions. We are grateful for your participation and urge you to share this survey with local community members who have traditionally been silenced and under engaged. Together, we can cultivate so much!
