    About the Awards

    BELMAS is an organisation that celebrates its people and their successes, and we're delighted to welcome nominations for the 2023 Awards, which will be held on Saturday 15th July at Gala Dinner and Awards during the Annual Conference at the Hilton, Belfast.

     

    There are four awards being determined by the Awards, Bursaries and Grants Committee and the Editors of EMAL and MiE, which are: EMAL Best Paper, MiE Best Paper, Conference Best Paper and ECR Conference Best Paper.

     

    Then there are three further awards which can be nominated for by you. These are: The Distinguished Service Award, The Doctoral Thesis Award and Best BELMAS Blog.

    Types of Awards and Criteria

    1. Distinguished Service Award (BELMAS Members ONLY)
    For this award, the panel are looking for someone who has:

     

    1. Significantly contributed to BELMAS work in the field of Educational Leadership, Management and Administration
    2. "Moved knowledge forward" within the Society and the wider community

     


    2. Doctoral Thesis Award (BELMAS Members ONLY)

    For this award, the panel are looking for a thesis which:

     

    1. Disseminates ideas which advance, or challenge, concepts of leadership and management and their relationship with educational improvement
    2. Encourages collaboration, or debate, among academics, practitioners and policymakers within and across educational sectors
    3. Promotes reflective and research-based approaches to leadership and management
    4. This must be nominated by Supervisors and will then be sent to our Awards, Bursaries and Grants Committee to be assessed

     

    3. Best BELMAS Blog Post (Open)

    Nominations for the Best BELMAS Blog Award should: 

     

    1. Disseminate ideas which advance, or challenge, concepts of leadership and management and their relationship with educational improvement
    2. Encourage collaboration, or debate, among academics, practitioners and policymakers within and across educational sectors
    3. Promote reflective and research-based approaches to leadership and management
    4. Have been published on the BELMAS blog in the time period of 2022 - present
