Lobby performances are not intended to be as prestigious as clinic sessions or concert performances for division sessions and general sessions of the GMEA Conference. Lobby performances should be chamber music performed by small instrumental and vocal ensembles between regular conference sessions at volumes that will not prohibit normal conversation by conference participants. Lobby performances must not exceed the time allotted. Percussion and jazz ensembles will not be considered for these performances because of the volume, sound, and size. Trios, quartets, quintets, and sextets are preferred. Performing ensembles should consist of 10 members or less. No ensemble will be permitted to perform if the membership of the group exceeds the number of members on the application, without prior approval from GMEA. Absolutely no equipment of any kind, including music stands, will be provided for lobby performances other than chairs. If selected, you must bring everything that you need for your performance other than chairs. Unframed certificates will be awarded to selected groups at the conclusion of the performance. Directors of all groups applying will be notified of acceptance or rejection no later than November 15th. The assignment of times of performance will be sent no later than December 7th.
