• To get a firm quote for REAP grant writing, please share some basic details about the project. The end of the form will have an area where you can make any notes for clarification, or share the files needed to show your project is "ready to go."

This form assumes you have confirmed your project's eligibility. (If you're unsure, you can confirm eligibility here.)

  • READY-TO-GO PROJECTS

We love working with projects that are ready to go! We can offer lower fees to a select number of projects per quarter where you can prove that essential "ready-to-go" files are already available by sharing a Google Drive/Dropbox folder link with alex@lightshed.us, with files organized and clearly labeled as follows:

    1. Utility bills (12 PDF files, one per month of actual historical bills.)
      Filenames: "Barn 2024-11.pdf" etc.

    2. Matching funds (loan letter or bank statement proving 50% of project costs in the name of the applicant company)
Filename: "Matching Funds - Bank Statement.pdf" etc.

    3. Installer Proposal (which shows total project costs and overhead map with trench lines)
      Filename: "Installer Proposal.pdf" etc.

    4. Energy Generation Report (PVWatts, Helioscope, etc.)
      Filename: "Energy Generation Report.pdf" etc.

    5. Overhead Map (which shows PV system and all trench lines clearly)
      Filename: "Overhead Map.pdf"

This is for straightforward solar PV projects (single site, 1-to-2-meters, non-residential, first time applicants, where the files are all listing the applicant company's legal name). If these files cannot all be provided, completely, there is no need to share a link. Any links to incomplete folders will not be offered a Ready-to-Go slot. Thank you!

  • **Please remember to actually click the "Share" button inside that folder in your Google/Dropbox and add alex@lightshed.us as a user with permissions to the folder.**

  • Note on Residential Involvement:

If the residential space is on its own separate meter, simply say "No" above and understand that only those systems on non-residential meters will be eligible for the grant. If the residential space is truly sharing a meter with the business applying for a grant, keep your "Yes" answer above and proceed.

  • If the business shares a meter with a residence AND the residential energy use is greater than 50% of the meter's total usage, OR if that shared meter has less than 12 months of history, a 2nd meter must be planned in order to be eligible.

  • Based on this response, it appears your project is not eligible. Please connect with your State Energy Coordinator if you want to be sure, or have a more nuanced situation you need more clarity about. If they can provide email confirmation of your eligibility, please forward that confirmation directly to us at info@lightshed.us and proceed with this quote request.

  • Note on Multiple Sites/Addresses:

If a single legal entity (and its affiliates) will own multiple energy systems planned for multiple project addresses, they can apply for only one REAP grant per year. If this is the case, the details you enter in this form submission should represent the sum total of all projects at all sites for that one legal entity in control of them.

  • Good news!

Through a partnership with USDA in your state, we can offer FREE grant writing for such a project under $200,000, assuming it is straightforward solar PV.

Please continue to the next page to share just a bit more about the project.

  • Basic System Info

  • NOTE ON BATTERIES:

We are mostly not doing battery-connected projects at this time. In an effort to keep people from using REAP for mostly-battery projects, USDA has started requiring extremely cumbersome and unrealistic Technical Reports that they are now having NREL review on their behalf, and they have been coming back with demands for battery dispatch analysis, reports on historical utility blackout data, reporting on supply chain dynamics and detailed alternative supply pathway reporting in event of equipment parts not being available—it's a lot, and we're hoping that within the coming fiscal year that USDA will find a way to relax this requirement and make straightforward battery projects more reasonable. For now, though, we are not taking on any new battery projects.

If your project is grid-tied and you're able to show only a PV system as the extent of this project, with batteries removed, we can proceed that way. Otherwise, please explain your situation briefly at the end of this form in the "Notes" window. Thank you!
