  • Program Description

    The OSC Scholarship Program seeks to further the organization’s mission of support for Veterans and their families through need-based financial assistance to aid in the pursuit of higher education. OSC will award a one time grant of up to $3,500 to a select number of dependent high school seniors of qualifying service members (for 2023 - 10 scholarships will be awarded). OSC Scholarship award recipients reflect a character befitting the sacrifices made by their sponsoring service members.
  • Eligibility

    Unmarried dependent children in their senior year of high school, seeking an advanced degree, or a certification from a vocational or technical institution that is DOE accredited. Qualifying Military Sponsors are defined as meeting criteria from one selection in each of the following sections: Active Duty (having served greater than 48 months). Title 10 Reservists on extended active duty, Title 32 Guard performing full-time active duty. Sponsor “veterans” (classified as non-active duty, and/or not currently enrolled in the reserve or guard), are required to have a VA disability rating of 70% or higher.If in or pending Medical Board; with a statement from a command liaison verifying member will be DOD qualified as combat wounded with a 70% or higher rating. Deceased from injuries related to combat deployment.

    • Copy of Qualifying Military Sponsor’s form DD-214 (or recent Statement of Service, DD-1300 or Report of Casualty)

    • Additional details of honors, distinctions, and extracurricular activities
    • Be prepared for a 10 minute phone interview with an OSC scholarship committee member

    All applicants must submit their most recent transcript or copy of their grades from the most recent completed semester or quarter (unofficial transcripts are acceptable).  If the applicant has any previous college or equivalent credits, submit transcripts from all colleges or vocational-technical schools attended. If no previous college or vocational-technical school credits, submit high school transcripts.

    (The qualifying parent’s spouse, or the applicant’s legal guardian, may sign if the qualifying parent is deployed or deceased.) We certify that, to the best of our knowledge, all responses are true and factual, and the qualifying parent, as well as the applicant, possesses a valid DD Form 214 or DD Form 1173 United States Uniformed Services Identification Card and is enrolled in DEERS.  We also agree that, if the applicant is selected as a recipient, any and all information submitted with this application (including documents and information submitted at a later date in support of an award determination) may be used for purposes of news and publicity by Operation Second Chance.
