*In most cases it's fine to record simply with your phone
*Please make sure to choose the best quality settings.
For example "lossless", "no compression", "wav format", at least "320 kbps".
*Avoid as much of the background noise as possible.
For example: machines, background music, wind blowing into the mic or harsh sounds.
*Keep the microphone close to your mouth, without breathing into it directly ;)
*Opt for recording somewhere with little or no reverberation.
For example you can surround yourself with pillows, get under a blanket, hide in the cupboard... in any case, avoid recording in the bathroom / church / hall, unless it is necessary!
*It's always a good idea to record it multiple times and send us different versions of your recording.
*Be discretely pedagogic! Reading slowly, stressing some parts of the sentence, pausing at parts that are more significant make it easier for the listeners to understand.
*You can always prepare the text by annotating parts of the sentences you'd like to stress. For example, ● underline stressed syllables. You can also mark rhythm with a dot for a pause, ○ and draw a circle to remind you to take a breath ● in the middle of a long sentence!
*In case you made an error while recording, you can snap your fingers to create a visual marker for us at editing, or simply start over the sentence. This can save more than 30min of editing for us, since we don't always know the original text :)
