    2023 Maryland BioGENEius Challenge

  • Together with the Biotechnology Institute, Learning Undefeated hosts the Maryland BioGENEius competition. This rigorous international competition for talented high school students in grades 9 – 12 gives students the opportunity to showcase their original research in biotechnology.

    The Maryland finalist will receive $250 and have the opportunity to represent Maryland at the International BioGENEius Challenge which will be virtual this year (tentative - more details to be released in April/May).

    Application Deadline: April 7, 2023

    Prizes:

    • First Place – 2023 Maryland BioGENEius Challenge Winner $250, plus an invitation to compete in the virtual International BioGENEius Conference
    • Second Place – 2023 Maryland BioGENEius Challenge Runner Up $100
    • Third Place – 2023 Maryland BioGENEius Challenge Runner Up $100

    Timeline:

    • Application Deadline: April 7, 2023
    • Winners notified on April 21, 2023
    • Maryland Finalist announced May 12, 2023
    • Virtual International BioGENEius Challenge in June 2023 (tentative)

    How to Apply:

    • Please carefully read the Rules and Guidelines and determine eligibility.

    • Choose a Challenge track – Global Healthcare, Global Sustainability, Global Environment. Click here for more information about how to select the right track.
    • Complete the application below in one sitting. Once you click submit, you will be unable to go back and edit the form. Be sure to upload your poster as a PDF file. You will receive a message thanking you for your application.
    • Winners for the Maryland challenge will be notified on April 21.
    • If selected as a finalist, you may receive further instructions from the Biotechnology Institute with further information regarding the International BioGENEius Challenge.
