  • KEN AND MURIEL QUENZER SCHOLARSHIP

  • The Ken and Muriel Quenzer Scholarship is awarded annually to graduating high school seniors who plan to continue their education at a four year college or university, a community college, vocational or trade/technical school. The purpose of the scholarship is to award money to deserving students who might not be able to attend school because of financial constraints. Recipients must be a member in good standing with Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County, have a letter of school acceptance or proof of regsitration, and intend to enroll as a full-time student (12 units or more at a community college, university, vocational or trade/technical school) to be eligible.

    $10,000 in scholarships will be awarded in 2026, with at least one scholarship totaling $3,000. Every applicant in 2026 will receive a $100 Visa gift card and will be entered into a raffle for a new PS5, XBox, or laptop. To be eligible for the gift card and raffle, the application must be fully completed and submitted on time.

    Applicants must be Boys & Girls Clubs member in good standing, not over 19 on August 1, 2026, and intending to enroll as a full-time student in the fall of 2026.

    Applicants will be judged on the following criteria:

    Financial Need.............................................................40%

    Academic Standing (minimum 2.5 GPA overall)................30%

    School/Community Involvment/Work Experience..............10%

    Student Essay..............................................................10%

    Recommendations........................................................10%

    All scholarship awards are granted based upon eligibility criteria and without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disabiity, or national origin. 

     

  • The following information must accompany your application. Incomplete applications will not be considered:

    1. Essay: 600 words or less describing your personal goals and direction, and how your involvement with Boys & Girls Clubs has impacted your life

    2. Proof of School Enrollment: College/School Acceptance Letter(s), Letter of Intent/Registration, or Confirmation of Enrollment

    3. Current High School Transcript: minimum 2.5 GPA overall

    4. Two letters of reference: one from a Boys & Girls Clubs staff member and one from a community leader or school official

     

    Copy of social security card or DACA Real ID card may be required at a later date

  • All applications are due on Friday, May 8, 2026. Applications must be submitted online, mailed, or hand delivered by you or a Unit Director.

    Mailed completed applications must be postmarked no later than Friday, May 8, 2026 and delivered to:

  • The Scholarship Committee will review all completed applications. A personal interview may be requested for final candidates.

    Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the academic institution to offset the cost of
    tuition, books, room and board and/or school supplies.
