As a UROP participant, you are required to submit an abstract. Submitting an abstract is a condition of your funding, which you agreed to in your summer award paperwork.
As UROP funds research all over the university, it can be difficult to give guidance on how to write an abstract on your work. Therefore, we have tips and tricks for abstract writing on our website here.
Additionally, we suggest that you check out last year's symposium booklet here to see abstracts from other students in your field or in related fields. For instructions on how to access the abstract booklet, click here.
With that said, as a general rule, your abstracts should: (I) include a short description of what you did and learned, (ii) be interesting and informative, (iii) be written for a broad audience (i.e. explain key concepts briefly and spell out abbreviations on first use), (iv) including why your work is important, and (v) include only numbers that are most important.
NOTE - Abstracts are limited to 250 words.
