Volunteering with Dublin Pride
Volunteers play an important role within Dublin Pride. Not only do they help us with the delivery of the festival, they also ensure that the ownership and direction of Pride remains in the hands of the community.
We have a number of volunteer opportunites available and invite you to join us for what promises to be a wonderful Pride celebration. More information on the roles are available below.
Please complete this form if you would like to volunteer.
Volunteer Option 1 - Pride Marshal
The role of the Pride Marshal is walk with the Parade and relay instructions from the Gardai or security staff to people in their group or report issues or concerns to the zone leader. They also act as a souse of information for attendees. Being a Pride Marshal is a very easy way of getting involved with Pride.
Volunteer Option 2 - Flag Bearers
It wouldn’t be Pride without lots of flags. In addition to our giant Pride Flag we also need people to accompany different community groups with flags on poles. You can dress up as extravagantly as you like.
Volunteer Option 3 - Support Team
We want Dublin Pride to be accessible and welcoming for everyone, and we know that some people will need a little extra help to be fully included in the day. As part of the support team, your job is to give that little extra help. We have a number of initiatives to help those who may have mobility or sensory issues. This includes accessibility buses and designated viewing zones as well designated zones within Merrion Square.
Volunteer Option 4 - Events Volunteer
A number of events will take place throughout the month of June at the Pride Hub and other venues across Dublin City. Volunteer opportunities will include front of house, hospitality and venue dressing. Volunteering at these events provides you with an opportunity to engage with our community in meaningful ways in the weeks leading up to the Pride Parade.
Time commitment
Training – You will be required to attend a training session in advance of the Parade. Sessions will take place in mid-June and you will have the option of attending midweek, evening or weekend. Training takes approximately 1 hour.
Pride Day - If you are volunteering at the parade, you will arrive at O’Connell Street at 11am for a briefing with your section leader where you will receive a hi-vis vest or flag depending on your role along with a luncheon voucher. You will then stay with your assigned group until it reaches Merrion Square and passes through the search zone. Depending on your position in the Parade your total time commitment on the day will be between 3 – 4 hours.
Events Volunteer - More information on upcoming events will be available soon. Generally you will not be asked to volunteer for more than 3 - 4 hours at any event.
