Dear Vendors,

Thank you for your interest in participating in the 2023 Summer People's Market!

Slow Food in the Teton's mission is to grow our local, regional and sustainable food economy by supporting producers, educating consumers, and connecting them together in the spirit of good, clean and fair food. The purpose of the People's Market is to provide a venue for local growers and producers to sell their food; to be an incubator for locally-made, sustainable artisan crafts; and to provide a gathering space for the community to celebrate local food.

Please complete this application to be considered for vendor space.

TIMELINE:
- Apply by Wednesday, April 26th to be considered for early season (June) markets. You will receive a response by May 10th.
- Applications for later markets are accepted on a rolling basis, and the vendor lineup varies weekly.
- The first People's Market is on Wednesday, June 7th.

- Dates: Every Wednesday, June 7th through September 27th
- Market time: 4:00 - 7:00pm
- Set-up time: 1:00 - 3:30pm (No late setups or early breakdowns.)

Farm/Ranch Vendors

Guidelines and Requirements

The People's Market seeks to give priority to local farmers and producers. Local is defined as grown within 115 miles or less from Jackson, WY. Regional is defined as grown within 250 miles or less from Jackson, WY.

Farmers/ranchers may sell items grown/raised by them (preferred) or purchased from another farmer and clearly marked as such.

Items that are not grown by the farmer/rancher must be purchased directly from another farmer, not a produce house, distributor or any other wholesale business. If purchased from another farmer, each item must be clearly labeled with the name of the farm, location (city, state) and growing practice.

Farmers/ranchers must be able to provide documentation to support the origin of items being sold at the market. If documentation is not readily available upon request, the vendor has three days from that market to demonstrate documentation to People’s Market managers. Slow Food in the Tetons reserves the right to ask a vendor to remove a product if documentation cannot be provided or if the product is deemed inappropriate for the market. Slow Food also reserves the right for a surprise inspection of the farm/ranch.

Regionally grown/raised products may only be sold at the market if a similar, locally grown/raised product is not already being sold at that market. If product duplication of this nature occurs, the non-local farmer/rancher must wait until the local version is sold out. For example, if two vendors are selling raspberries, one from Jackson and the other from Colorado, then the Colorado berries may not be sold until the local ones are sold out. The only exception to this rule occurs if the local vendor waives their right to priority.

Packaged Food and Prepared Food/Alcohol Vendors

Guidelines and Requirements

Prepared Food is food intended to be eaten on the spot and assembled from multiple ingredients. Examples are tamales, sandwiches, ice cream, rice bowls, soup, etc.

Packaged Food vendors sell canned, cryovac, bottled, frozen, baked, fermented food. Examples are jam, fermented vegetables, beef jerky, bread, baked goods, salsa, mustard, etc.

Prepared food, packaged food, and alcohol vendors are required to have AT LEAST one local ingredient (within 115 miles of Jackson) included in at least one of the dishes/products being sold at each market you attend. Please indicate below if you need assistance sourcing locally.

Prepared food, packaged food, and alcohol vendors are required to disclose the local ingredient(s) used on a label supplied by People’s Market staff.

As with farmers and ranchers, priority will be given to the local product in situations where there are similar products for sale by multiple packaged or prepared food vendors.

Slow Food in the Tetons will provide signage for vendors operating under the FOOD FREEDOM ACT. Vendors are required to display this signage at their booth at each market.

Non-food Vendors

Guidelines and Requirements

Non-Food Vendors sell products that cannot be ingested. Examples of non-food products are jewelry, clothing, soap, chapstick, bags, fine art, crafts etc.

We welcome non-food vendors and are proud that our market celebrates quality crafts made locally and sustainably. Part of the purpose of the People's Market is to be a venue for the sale of locally-made, sustainable crafts and to be an incubator for local businesses. Each People's Market lineup aims to achieve a 70:30 food:non-food vendor ratio.

Additional factors in non-food vendor selection: The People's Market seeks to maintain a diverse mix of non-food products. If we have several vendors who are selling similar products, we may ask vendors to stagger weeks with another vendor. We will give priority to vendors whose products align with Slow Food's values of Good, Clean and Fair and feature some or all of the following criteria:

1. Utilize local plant or animal products (e.g. soap made with local lavender, clothing made with local sheep's wool, etc.)

2. Locally sourced materials

3. Socially responsible (fair and dignified labor, easily traceable supply chain)

4. Environmentally responsible (recycled or up-cycled materials, minimal to zero packaging)

5. Locally assembled

6. Vendors with whom we have a strong working relationship and history

Market Fees & Membership

PLEASE NOTE THE NEW VENDOR FEES FOR SUMMER 2023 IN THE TABLE BELOW. Vendor fees help support market operations.

As in the past, fees for the Summer People’s Market will be capped at different rates for members and non-members. The People’s Market collects 10% of gross sales until the cap amount is reached. There will be a minimum charge for a booth space regardless of sales. Vendors will be responsible for turning in a sales sheet and fee to Slow Food staff members at the end of the market. Please see cap and minimum rates for members and non-members below.

CANCELLATION POLICY: To avoid a cancellation fee of $60, make sure to notify the Slow Food People's Market Manager no later than FIVE DAYS prior to the market date (by the Friday before a Wednesday market). No call/no shows are subject to a $100 fine.

Membership is only available to vendors selling food (Farmers, Ranchers, Prepared/Packaged Food and Alcohol). Membership is $100 per calendar year. If you purchased a membership for the winter season, your membership will remain current until the end of 2023.

Vendor Booth Options

Applicants are responsible for their own tents, tables, chairs, signage and tent weights. Tent weights are required for every market.

(NOTE: Vehicles will not be parked next to tents at the Center Lawn, and, therefore, cannot serve as tent weights.) All food vendor booths are required to be covered in accordance with Wyoming Health Code.

Hold Harmless Agreement - Exhibitors Contract

All Exhibitors Must Read and Agree with the Conditions Below.

Exhibitors agree to protect, save and hold Slow Food in the Tetons and all agents and employees thereof (hereafter collectively call indemnities) forever harmless for any damages or charges imposed for violations for any law or ordinance, whether occasioned by the negligence of the exhibitor shall, at all time, protect, indemnify, save and hold harmless the indemnities against and from any and all losses, costs, damages, liability or expenses (including attorney’s fees) arising from or out of or by reason of any accident or bodily injury or other occurrences to any person or persons, including the exhibitor, its agents, employees or business invitees, which arise from or out of by reason of said exhibitor’s occupancy and use of the exhibition premises or any part thereof.

Liability
Exhibitor shall be fully responsible for any and all damages to property owned by Slow Food in the Tetons and its agents, which result from an act or omission of exhibitors. Exhibitor agrees to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Slow Food in the Tetons, its agents, employees, subsidiaries, and affiliates from any damages or charges resulting from exhibitor’s use of the property. Exhibitor's’ liability shall include all losses, damages, costs or expenses arising out or out of by reason of any accident or bodily injury or other occurrences to any person or persons, including the Exhibitor, its agents, employees and businesses invitees which arises from or out of the exhibitor’s occupancy and use of the exhibition premises or any part thereof.

Slow Food People's Market Ground Rules

The People’s Market vendors make up a family, and we ask that vendors treat each other with respect. Slow Food in the Tetons reserves the right to remove a product due to violation of Market Rules. Slow Food in the Tetons also reserves the right to remove a vendor from individual markets or from an entire market season based on the nature and severity of the violation. The Slow Food People’s Market staff will use their discretion to make decisions regarding infractions and resulting consequences. While it is the sole job of management to manage and monitor all vendors and products, we encourage vendors to communicate to managers as soon as possible if they see a major flagrant infraction. Slow Food may seek advice from the People's Market Steering Committee regarding certain infractions and resulting consequences.

Prepared and packaged food vendors are required to disclose the local ingredients used on a label supplied by People’s Market staff.

6. All companies and products that use the word organic must do so in compliance with the National Organic Program standards, 7 CFR Part 205. No false labeling or advertising of products.

7. In order to use the word “organic,” “biodynamic,” “non-GMO,” or any other designation on ANY labeling, vendors must provide proof of certification to Slow Food and have a copy available at the market for customers to see.

8. No bullying, antagonizing or intimidating other vendors.

9. All food vendors operating under the Food Freedom Act must display a visible sign explaining that your product was made at home and not in a certified facility.

10. NO DOGS permitted belonging to vendors or customers are permitted in vendor booths. This is a People's Market rule and Center Lawn regulation and will be enforced. Please also note that there will be no vehicle parking adjacent to booths, so plans to keep dogs in your car are not advised.

11. No smoking.

12. No calling. Calling is when a vendor calls out from his/her booth about what is for sale.

13. All vendors must meet Teton County, Wyoming health codes.

14. If vendors cancel less than five days prior to a market, the late cancellation fee is $60. No call/no shows are subject to a $100 fine.

15. Vendors are responsible for cleaning their booth space. Failure to do so will result in a $10 clean-up fee.

16. If vendors sell food or drinks or give samples, they must use the reusable plates, bowls, silverware and cups that the People's Market staff provides.
