• Tree Planting Concern Form

Please complete this form if you have concerns about Friends of the Urban Forest planting one or more trees adjacent to your residence. Only concerns about tree plantings adjacent to the address you provide will be considered. Before completing this form, please read the below information about Proposition E, the StreetTreeSF program, and how they have changed who has authority over street trees.
  • Proposition E and StreetTreeSF

In November 2016, 79% of San Francisco residents approved Proposition E and the creation of the StreetTreeSF program, which took effect on July 1st, 2017. Proposition E transferred all responsibility and authority over street trees from property owners to the San Francisco Public Works Department. Friends of the Urban Forest partners closely with Public Works to meet our shared goal of increasing our urban tree canopy as stated in the Urban Forest Plan. As a partner with SF Public Works, Friends of the Urban Forest is permitted to plant street trees in all valid sites in the public right-of-way, including all city sidewalks. We do not need permission from property owners to plant street trees in any existing basins or to create new basins in the sidewalk. However, we do value input from residents and do our best to partner with communities whenever possible.
