• RiverFest & Craft Show Volunteers

  • It’s that time again! Please consider volunteering your time and talents to Occoquan’s RIVERFEST & CRAFT SHOW! This two-day festival draws thousands of people to town and every season we count on our exceptional volunteers to help us host an amazing event for the Town of Occoquan!

RiverFest & Craft Show is Saturday, June 3, and Sunday, June 4, both days from 10am to 5pm. Shifts typically last 3 hours and we’ll need help in all areas: Shuttle Stop, Vendor Assistance, Information Booth, Set Up, and Flex. Descriptions are below.

Volunteers receive a t-shirt, lunch voucher and training for their service.

If you are interested in volunteering, invite a friend and sign up below. Email the Events Director with questions at JLittle@occoquanva.gov or call 703-491-1918.

    Thank you for your support!

A Volunteer meeting will be held on Tuesday 5/30 at 6:30pm and all training info will also be shared via email.

  • SHUTTLE STOP TEAM

Volunteers will ensure that each patron over the age of 12 that rides the shuttle pays the round-trip shuttle fare upon drop off at the festival and receives a stamp allowing them into the show and indicating what stop to which they should return in order to board the shuttle back to the lot. This year, we've made it easier for visitors to pre-pay for their passes online or to scan the QR code at the gate which involves no cash transaction. Fees are $8 for a single rider or 2 for $15.

This year we also will ask volunteers to tally the number of visitors as they enter using a handheld counter.

  • VENDOR ASSISTANCE TEAM

Volunteers will walk the streets of the show to answer vendor questions and assist with booth sitting. Volunteers will watch the booth to prevent theft but will not conduct transactions on behalf of the vendor. Volunteers may be assigned an area to cover when they check in. This team of volunteers may also be used to fill in shifts or to cover last minute emergency needs.

  • INFORMATION BOOTH AND CHECK IN

Friendly volunteers will greet our visitors, help answer questions, and share the many fun things happening in town all season long. Volunteers will also sell merchandise using a tablet provided by the town.

The Information Booth becomes the check in point for volunteers after 10am.

  • CONSERVATION ALLEY

Kids are invited to make crafts out of recycled materials at our Alley Art Bar. Volunteers are needed to help facilitate. All supplies and sample crafts to use as guides to follow are provided.

  • SET UP and BREAKDOWN

Saturday morning set up includes helping staff set tables, tents, and chairs in River Mill Park, at locations along the streets, and at shuttle bus stops. Vendor Breakfast is also set up in front of Town Hall.
