The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) established the Healthy Meals Incentives Initiative to improve the nutritional quality of school meals through food systems transformation, School Food Authority (SFA) recognition, and technical assistance, the generation and sharing of innovative ideas and tested practices, and grants.
USDA and Action for Healthy Kids anticipate awarding $30 million to over 200 SFAs that meet the definition of small or rural schools experiencing challenges in the improvement of the nutritional quality of their school meals due to limited staffing, difficulty in accessing training, increased food costs due to limited purchasing power, lack of physical space, and outdated kitchen equipment. Awardees will receive up to $150,000 to support overcoming these challenges.
This webinar will provide participants with an overview of Action for Healthy Kids and its partners, Chef Ann Foundation and RMC Health, and the types of training and technical assistance they will provide to grant awardees. It will also address frequently asked questions of this funding opportunity. Please submit your questions ahead of time at support@healthymealsincentives.org
