• ORED End Appointment/Separation Request (v0.1)

    ORED End Appointment/Separation Request (v0.1)

UNL Office of Research & Economic Development
  • Requirements:

Please remember to have separating employees update their personal email address on their current and permanent address in ESS before they leave. This will allow them to receive any necessary emails after their unl.edu email is no longer active. They should also update their permanent mailing address if they are moving to ensure they receive their W-2 for the current tax year.

  • Policy Reminder - Resignation Dates: The last day worked by an employee will be the resignation date. An employee may not use vacation or sick leave to be paid for a holiday occurring after the last day worked. Payment for accrued vacation will be included in the employee's final paycheck. This policy does not apply to separations due to retirement or disability.

  • Note: Retiring employees may choose to have their leave balance (vacation and floating holidays) paid out or use them to extend their appointment end date beyond their last working day. If they choose to use all or part of their leave balance, they should indicate this in their retirement letter. ORED HR can assist in determining what their last day will be based on their leave balance.

  • Note: You will need to work with ORED HR to ensure proper notice is given.

  • Note: For RIF’s, a minimum of 90-day notice is required for managerial/professional (M/P) and a minimum of 30-day notice is required for office/service (O/S) employees. This process includes working with ORED HR to provide justification to Central HR and IEC for review, who will then give authorization to issue a formal notice to the employee.
