TOP DOGS & UNDERDOGS GRASS TOURNAMENT SERIES POINTS COLLECTION!

Collect points the more you play to WIN $$$, Prizes & Bragging Rights to be Crowned the 2023 Grass Top Dogs. There will be Top Dogs and Underdogs awarded at each level!

You collect points as an individual (not team) the more volleyball you play for additional prizes and the chance to be crowned the top dogs and underdogs of 2023.

MORE ABOUT COLLECTING POINTS TO BECOME TOP DOG
A Leaderboard will be posted the week after every tournament to show each person’s season points. You get points just for playing and more depending on placement within your level.

You can collect points for 9 GRASS TOURNAMENTS (June 4, June 25, July 9, July 22, August 19, September 2 PLUS Cambie Special Events: May Days on May 27th, Top Gun June 11 and Salmonfest July 1st)

Points will be allocated as follows for EVERY division (B, A, AA, AAA, Open) - keep in mind in big tournaments that if you win a 2nd/3rd/4th/... level down pool any pool it is less points than this to act as a leaderboard: 1st = 9 point, 2nd = 7 points, 3rd = 5 points, 4th = 3 points, 5th = 2 points, 6th = 1 point. You get 1 bonus point if you play A, 3 for AA, 5 if AAA and 7 if OPEN. Bonus points are to motivate people to play in higher division and not sandbag!

Due to the size of some of the tournaments - next year a leaderboard will have slightly different point assignment now that we've seen in action - on most part worked great this year but look for a few improvements next year

Each tournament is worth the same amount of points and you do not have to play every tournament - it simply gives you more chances to collect points.

After the 9 tournaments, the top 3 individuals with the most points of every division (B, A, AA, AAA, Open) get bragging rights and photographic evidence of being crowned top dogs and underdogs of 2023 plus:
• 1st gets $100 cash + a prize
• 2nd get $50 cash + a prize
• 3rd gets $25 cash + a prize

The add-on prizes in addition to fun tees include: some options being figured out since there were a couple things I could not get printed

Prizing will be awarded at September 2nd tournament. There will be crowns and capes and prize for best pose of the poster underdog and a true topdog look! We are planning to have a BBQ and awards celebration at the field. More info on that will be sent to those registered.

For ties they will be determined by: (1) to who played the greater number at a higher level if they are on the cusp between levels; (2) Who played a greater number of events.

FINAL TOURNAMENT TO CROWN THE TOP DOGS & UNDERDOGS OF 2023 GRASS

SEPTEMBER 2ND, 2023

Tournament Format: Co-ed Reverse 4's

AGENDA:

8:20 check-in

8:50 announcements

9:00 start your games with who you have (will be a firm start time for this one so be warmed up)

12:00 - 4:00 BBQ lunch will be available to opt in if desired (a note will be sent out to all registered teams with cost and menu and you must prebuy tickets so we can buy enough food and prepare accordingly - the price is likely to be $20 to cover food costs and hiring of people to man the BBQ all afternoon)

Tentative menu items: BBQ pulled pork; Smokies and all the fixings; Homemade burgers; Veggie options (Chipotle Adobo grilled tofu AND Portabello mushrooms with boursin) + Salads + Some goodies

12:30 ish - double knockout playoffs begin

3:00 ish - usually the first set of teams get knocked out around 3:00

6:00 ish - Wrapping up finals

6:00 - 6:30ish - Crowning of the Top Dogs Ceremony - capes, crowns, cash & prizes

Saturday, September 2nd @ Cambie Community Centre (there will be a BBQ added to this tournament and crowning of top dogs and underdogs that day and so likely instead of 6pm end it might be 6:30/7:00 if you make to the end and want to watch the crowning ceremony - BBQ will be an extra cost through lunch and afternoon at "cost" for those wanting in to just cover the cost of food and people hired to manage the BBQ) - so expect a big social field :-)) - more info on BBQ to be sent out to those registered

B - basic understanding of the game and rules but few developed skills

A - solid knowledge of the game and rules - skill levels range from beginner to advanced

AA - solid knowledge of the game and rules - skill levels range from advanced to experienced (I played competitive vball in highschool and am therefore magical)

AAA - - superior knowledge of the game and rules - skill levels experienced (I played college or university vball therefore I am unicorn magical)
