Since this workshop is being held online, there are some technology requirements and expectations to help you and your small group have the best experience possible.
We will be using Zoom to host this workshop. For those of you who aren't familiar with Zoom, it is a video conferencing solution that is free for participants to download. Please be sure you have downloaded the latest version of Zoom Client for Meetings. Older versions may not work with the breakout room feature that we will be using for small group time. We will be providing a video tutorial to help you get familiar with Zoom and how we plan to use it during this workshop.
We are asking that each participant couple uses one computer with a video camera, microphone, stable internet connection and the latest version of Zoom (see above). Optionally, you may want to have headphones; this can cut down on feedback and background noise.
Below are some of our general expectations for participants in the online workshop.
- Attend and give your full attention to all sessions (main and breakout) – your small group is counting on you to be present!
- Do not make any outside commitments during the workshop hours.
- Create a distraction-free environment for yourself during the workshop.
- If you have children, have childcare arranged for all hours of the workshop.
- Keep your video camera on during both the main and breakout sessions – this helps facilitate transparency, vulnerability and connection.
- Find a well-lit location so your face is visible on camera (ideally with light shining on your face, not from the back).
- Keep your microphone muted when you are not speaking to help cut down on background noise, feedback and distractions. During the main sessions, we will help keep your microphones muted. During breakout sessions, please keep this in mind for your small group experience.
- Display your first and last name in Zoom. This will help us make sure that only registered participants are in the workshop and help your small group learn your name.
