The Cooking up a Storm Project, supported by the Restaurant Association, has established a discretionary fund, to be reserved and drawn upon to assist the hospitality industry, particularly those that would not be eligible for access to the mayoral funds.
Please note there is a limited fund to be disbursed. Fund amount = $120,000, to be distributed on a first come, first served basis.
- Qualifying small businesses must:
- have no less than one employee, and no more than 40, at the time of application
- have been directly impacted by the cyclones, including by having sustained damage to property or been unable to trade during normal trading hours
- face significant cashflow issues due to continued challenges with customer access, ability to source stock, or operate as usual due to physical damage to equipment or premises, or delays in insurance assessment and repairs
- be an otherwise viable business both before and after the flooding, and

- Any drawdown on the fund will be:
- either $5,000 or $1,000 depending on the actual financial challenges faced by the small/ medium business due to the cyclone
