Symposium Proposals for Winnipeg 2023
The 51st Annual NASBR will be held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada from 11-14 October 2023 and the local organizing committee and NASBR are calling for symposium proposals. Symposia may be proposed by individuals or groups of up to three organizers. Symposium topics which address integrative and forward-looking research questions and hypotheses, or use innovative research methods and approaches, are encouraged.
Symposium Details
Symposia may consist of either six or eight 15-minute (12 + 3 for questions) presentations. All speakers and organizers must have confirmed their willingness to attend NASBR and participate in the symposium. Proposals should include a working title, a list of confirmed speakers and tentative presentation titles, and a clear explanation of symposium goals and benefits of the symposium for advancing bat research. NASBR is an inclusive and diverse society and we strongly encourage proposals with confirmed lists of presenters that are consistent with NASBR’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI). Proposals should include a statement indicating how the symposium and selection of speakers will help advance EDI at NASBR. Symposium organizers are encouraged to seek out funds that could support participation by invited symposium speakers, particularly those that might not be able to attend without financial support. If such opportunities are available, please describe these in your proposal.
Deadlines and Timing
The deadline for proposals is 22 May 2023 and presenters must register and submit their abstracts by 31 July 2023. A limited number of symposia will fit in the conference schedule and symposia will need to be speakers only (i.e., time will not be available for panel discussion). If openings become available in a given symposium, regular NASBR registrants presenting relevant, complementary research may be added. As always, only one presentation per registrant, including symposium speakers, is permitted at NASBR.
