  • VBODA Hall of Fame Recognition

    The VBODA Hall of Fame was established by the VBODA Executive Board to give recognition for exceptional support, inspiration and outstanding contributions to the growth and development of instrumental music education in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

    Criteria

    • 25 successful years of teaching instrumental music with at least 20 of those years in Virginia
    • Evidence of numerous and consistent exemplary performances on the concert stage, marching, and/or jazz stage while fostering strong, multi-faceted programs to include elementary, middle school, and high school educators
    • Ensemble performances at local, regional, state, and/or national events.
    • Highly regarded professional leader of instrumental music education
  • Philip J. Fuller Service Award

    In honor of Philip J. Fuller, who was instrumental in the organization of VBODA and served as President of VBODA (1953-56) and as Assistant Manual Editor for over thirty years, an annual award for service to VBODA will be presented. Nominations are made by VBODA members, and are submitted to the VBODA Executive Board. The Board determines the recipient.

  • C. Sidney Berg Award

    Established in 1988 for outstanding service to VBODA, the VBODA Sidney Berg Award is presented to recognize those who have made significant contributions to the Commonwealth, but are not necessarily members of VBODA. In 1994, the general membership unanimously agreed to name the VBODA Service Award in honor of Sidney Berg, President 1948-50 and Manual Editor from 1947 until 1997. Nominations are made by VBODA members and are submitted to the VBODA Executive Board. The Board determines the recipient.

  • Philip J. Fuller Service Award

  • In honor of Philip J. Fuller, who was instrumental in the organization of VBODA and served as President of VBODA (1953-56) and as Assistant Manual Editor for over thirty years, an annual award for service to VBODA will be presented. Nominations are made by VBODA members, and are submitted to the VBODA Executive Board. The Board determines the recipient.

    • Active involvement in VBODA or VBODA-related activities (nominee must be a current or former VBODA member)
    • Professional accomplishments
    • Length of service to VBODA
    • Must be nominated by a VBODA member
