  • As a Cultural Advocate for the Massachusetts Baptist Multicultural Ministries, *   *     , I agree to abide by the following covenant to assist MBMM in achieving the mission of Thriving Pastoral Ministry and guide us in our mutual commitment to one another as followers of and believers in Jesus Christ.

  • We commit to:

    • Form and/or revitalize Ethnic Clergy Groups, with up to a maximum of 10 members per group.
    • Obtain and submit a signed covenant from every member and committed participant of your Ethnic Clergy Group.
    • Establish and outline the frequency of meetings as well as lead regularly scheduled meetings with my cohort group. (Ethnic Clergy Group participants and members are paid a stipend for their participation and to acknowledge their willingness to be part of the program.
    • Devise a plan for retreats (what type, when, where, etc.)
  • Primary & Immediate Tasks: (to be completed by   *   *   )

    • Devise a plan for retreats (what type, when, where, etc.)

    Ongoing Tasks & Reporting:

    Work with MBMM to develop a contact list/directory of every Ethnic Clergy Group member (include title, name, address, email, cell/home/church phone number, and church name & address – specify urban/rural church and size of the church; also specify role - Senior Pastor/Associate Pastor, etc.)

    NOTE: All contact information is necessary and important for the praxis of TPMP, which includes recording data and/or producing and delivering stipend payments to specified participants. Stipend checks processed for member participation in meetings will be mailed directly to the specified participants. At a minimum, 6 meetings are noted as payable.

    Monthly invoices may include:

    • Submit invoices with pictures and videos of events, meetings, etc. (Keep a regular, outgoing schedule for the submission of pictures and videos) via the online database.

    NOTE: All contact information is necessary and important for the praxis of TPMP, which includes recording data and/or producing and delivering stipend payments to specified participants. Stipend checks processed for member participation in meetings will be mailed directly to the specified participants. At a minimum, 6 meetings are noted as payable.

    • Summarize your work with the pastors in implementing the Thriving Pastoral Ministry Program when you are not meeting with your cohort, be specific about the number of pastors you have worked with, any pastoral concerns addressed, and any resolutions referral (such as peer coaching, mentoring, etc.)
    • In the month when the ECG meeting is held, please submit the agenda discussed, the number of attendees, meeting minutes, issues addressed or raised, etc.
    • Please summarize if you have participated outside of your cohort such as Interfaith Group, Clergy group, or other like-minded organization.


    Clergy Fund:

    One thousand dollars will be given to each ECG every year of the grant for professional and personal development with the goal of increasing pastoral agency for growth and professional development. The requisition form is available from the MBMM office.

    MBMM Program Staff pledge to provide the following services in implementing TPMP:

    As a collective team, MBMM office staff agree to abide by the following covenant to assist all Cultural Advocates in achieving our mission of the Thriving Pastoral Ministry Program and guide us in our mutual commitment to one another as followers of and believers in Jesus Christ.

    MBMM commits to:

    • Applying God’s Word to our everyday lives (Teaching)
    • Building community with love and devotion to one another (Fellowship)
    • Praying for and encouraging one another in our walk with the Lord (Prayer)
    • Sharing our faith, our stories, our strengths, and support for each other (Networking)
    • Providing supportive resources, such as creating group emails/mailings; scheduling Ethnic Clergy Group meetings; performing administrative tasks and logistics of workshop planning and development; resources for group dynamics and training for mentoring, checking in with the mentors and mentee, coach and coachee.
    • Designing safe spaces for collegial support, to conduct round table discussions on the social context of systemic issues that affect your personal and public circles of community.
    • Paying for services outlined above. So long as covenant services are fulfilled, cultural advocates will be paid $450 per month. Payments will be granted upon receipt of monthly invoices identifying fulfilled services.
    • Providing transparency of funds and budget as outlined and granted through the Lilly Foundation.
