• The Residency Project

    *APPLICATION PREVIEW*
  • Individuals, collaborative duos*, and partnered applicants** are eligible to apply.

    *non-intimate partners
**Both partners should maintain an active creative practice, either collaborative or independent from one another. Partnered residents will share a bedroom and bed. If your partner does not have an active creative practice, we ask that you apply as an individual applicant.

  • The Residency Project offers fully subsidized and stipended residencies to only a few outstanding artists each year. These coveted spots are extremely competitive. Through this open call, TRP also considers applicants for our fee-based Artist Sojourn: a partially-subsidized residency program that requires awarded artists-in-residence to put forth a modest financial investment. The Artist Sojourn is still a competive residency opportunity but, overall, TRP is able to support more artists through this program than we would be able to if we only offered fully subsidized/stipended residency spots.

    APPLICATION PREVIEW
  • Provide 5 work samples that are either directly related to your proposed project or are exemplary of your recent practice.

In each of the 5 work sample sections, you may upload one or more files AND/OR enter a URL. If uploading multiple files to show different components or perspectives of the same artwork, just select more than one file when you click "Browse Files."

Samples of sound, film/video, video documentation of performances, and/or web-based works should be submitted with a URL in the designated field. Please do not upload PDFs with embedded links.

Text-based works should be submitted as PDF attachments or links to online publications. If uploading a PDF, please keep your excerpts to 1 or 2 pages. The reviewers will just want to get a gist of your unique artistic voice and how your conceptual interests are explored through the medium of language and text.

  • The Residency Project (TRP) provides time and space in support of creative research and artistic experimentation with an emphasis on creating opportunities for practitioners who are traditionally underrepresented in the arts—women, BIPOC artists, LGBTQ+ artists, artists with disabilities, and parents—as well as artists who give consideration to the environmental impact of their work and who actively pursue sustainable practices.
