Kick off the summer with an outdoor sea chantey singalong followed by watching the sea adventure movie Around Cape Horn on the big screen! Penobscot Marine Museum staff member Joe Greeley will lead sea chanteys starting at 7:30pm - come ready to enjoy listening to this maritime musical genre or join in! After sunset, the film will start. What’s it about? During a 1929 voyage aboard the bark “Peking,” Captain Irving Johnson brought his video camera and recorded footage of the dangerous passage around Cape Horn. He later recorded narration of the trip. It’s a classic maritime film that will bring to life the days of sailing the world on large square-rigged vessels! Rain date Friday, May 19th.
