Born from a partnership between Casa da Arquitectura and Turismo de Portugal, the Tours program proposes a set of visits guided by specialized architects with the aim of celebrating the passion for architecture.

Cities are best known on foot. These walks allow you to get to know the various historical strata that constitute the centre of the cities, visiting works marked by ancient customs, loaded with stories, revisited with the gaze of contemporaneity.

Walking Tour Lisbon

Álvaro Siza led the project to renovate Chiado in an exercise in repairing memory. Rooted and alive in the collective memory of Lisbon, this itinerary proposes a deep reflection on the importance of continuity in the design and consolidation of historic cities.

São Miguel Island

São Miguel is inseparable from its natural context. The omnipresent basalt darkens the embankments and squares. Each frame takes in a segment of the sea.There is a proliferation of trees and paths around the lagoons, and the buildings appear almost like intruders in the vegetation. This itinerary invites you to discover the wonders of the island, showing the unique works of architects such as Eduardo Souto de Moura, Aires Mateus, Menos é Mais, João Mendes Ribeiro or Risco.

Pico Island

Pico Island stands out both for the diversity of its landscapes and for the presence of ancient trades and customs that inform the island's condition. From the Vineyard Culture Landscape to the eroded banks of Lajes, passing through the docks of São Roque, the island tells us stories of whalers and arduous harvests, always under theumbrella of the volcano that gives it its name. Paulo Gouveia's attention to vernacular architecture joins contemporary proposals from architects such as SAMI, Rui Pinto, Ana Robalo and Nuno Ribeiro Lopes.
