    Disabled Veterans, Former POW, Medal of Honor
  • Any military veteran with a 100% service-related disability*, or former prisoners of war or Medal of Honor recipients may apply for free Motor Vehicle Permits. Eligible veterans will receive two Motor Vehicle Permits by mail, one for the current calendar year and one for the following year.

    Eligible veterans will receive two annual Motor Vehicle Permits by mail for a two year period. Veterans are encouraged to reapply every two years.

    * As determined by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.

    Attach a photocopy of the following verifications 

    Service eligibility as follows:

    • DISABLED VETERAN – If you are a disabled veteran, attach a current letter, dated within the last year, from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), stating that you are entitled to compensation for a service-connected disability at the 100% rate, or stating you have received a monetary allowance from the VA toward the purchase of a motor vehicle.
    • DISABLED VETERAN – If you are a disabled veteran to whom the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA) has issues a set of Disabled Veterans License Plates, attach a copy of the motor vehicle’s current license plate registration.
    • FORMER PRISONER OF WAR – If you are a former Prisoner of War, attach a copy of the Prisoner of War Record of Separation (DD214) or a copy of the honorable discharge; AND any one of the following documents stating Prisoner of War status:
      • Any documentary evidence of Prisoner of War status from one of the Armed Forces of the United States.
      • Telegram advising family of Prisoner of War status.
      • Letter from the War Claims Commission.
      • Letter from U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
    • CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR – If you have received this award, attach documentary evidence in support of award.
