Cohen (1946-2009) was a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician from the University of Pittsburgh who made monumental, multifaceted contributions to the care of people with Down syndrome through tireless work and his warm personality. He was a galvanizing force for professional care providers as one of the cofounders of the Down Syndrome Medical Interest Group. Dr. Cohen was also a key member of the Clinical Advisory Board of the National Down Syndrome Society and the Scientific Advisory Board for the Down Syndrome Research and Treatment Foundation. Dr. Cohen exemplifies to us how much can be accomplished as an outstanding leader, educator, clinician, and researcher. We celebrate his contributions to the field of Down syndrome with this award.
