Dear Community Partner,
It has been seven years since the Pine Grove Association and the Canton Juneteenth Committee hosted its first Juneteenth Celebration in Canton, MS. This year we plan to continue this tradition on Saturday, June 17, 2023, in honor of 158 years of freedom. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated remembrance of the ending of slavery in the United States. Juneteenth marks that day with festivities to promote and cultivate knowledge and appreciation of African American history, culture, and well-being in memory of this momentous occasion.
Our Juneteenth event will include a 5K run/walk, vendor fair, community forums, and other activities promoting health and wellness. The event will take place in historic downtown Canton. The focus again this year is the health and well-being of the community. You can find information about our event at http://www.cantonjuneteenth.com/
We ask your organization to help defray the costs of hosting the event by serving as a sponsor. A commitment of a tax-deductible contribution will ensure the success and continuance of this community celebration. The Pine Grove Association is a tax exempt organization. Its Employee Identification Number is 64-0810734.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the youth programs of the Pine Grove Association, including its project for middle school students, called M.A.G.I.C (Madison Area Global Innovation Collaborative). The Pine Grove Association is a local nonprofit helping youth excel in all areas of development, including academically, socially, and culturally. Our website, http://www.pinegroveassoc.org/ gives more details about our work. Please review the enclosed 2023 Juneteenth Sponsorship Level Form to determine the benefits of your desired level of sponsorship.
Our official 5K Run/Walk will kick off the day as we travel through some of Canton’s Historic neighborhoods. We are encouraging individuals to participate and organizations to form teams and participate.
We hope we can count on you to make this year’s event healthier and more engaging. Thank you in advance, and we welcome your support. I can be reached at (601) 955-1132 or cantonjuneteenth@gmail.com if you need additional information.
Sincerely,
Angela Y. Carson
