NB: Affinity Health Solutions is not an registered training organisation (RTO) therefore offers upskilling and compliance with best practice. Attendees will receive a certificate of attendance upon completion.

  • 1. Half Day (Core topics): Approx 4 hours.

    Consists of:
    • Anatomy and physiology of spinal cord and understanding spinal injury classification.
    • Identification, management, and prevention of Pressure injuries
    • Care of a person with a neurogenic bladder and identifying risks to the renal system, understanding the complexities of bladder management and how to prevent bladder injury.
    • Understanding the neurogenic bowel, how diet and lifestyle influence the bowel and what is your role in helping the client maintain independence within their ability.
    • Skin care for a person with a spinal cord injury.
    • Understanding the signs and symptoms of Autonomic Dysreflexia, how to manage the client with AD when to escalate someone with AD. This is a medical emergency!

    • Bowel management including stoma care and Peristeen

    • PR checks
    • Dysphagia
    • Autonomic Dysreflexia (recommended)
    • Palliative care support and guidance
    • Neurodiversity
