  • We understand that returning a pet can be a difficult and emotional decision to make and appreciate that you are doing what is best for your pet and your family.

    All returns at the Edmonton Humane Society are by appointment only.

    Before booking a return appointment please complete the following form. This will take approximately 15 minutes and help us determine the next steps. You may save your spot in the questionnaire at any time and return to it later.

    Completing this form in detail is crutial to ensure we can meet the dog’s needs, and it greatly helps our staff know what supports to coordinate. 

    Please note: At the appointment, you must be listed as the adopter or have the authority to return the dog on behalf of the listed adopter.

    Once submitted, a member of our team will contact you within 48 hours to discuss timelines for admitting and next steps as well as ask and answer questions.

  • IMPORTANT: We require proof of ownership at all return appointments. If your dog's microchip or tattoo is not registered to yourself, you will need to show proof that you have the authority to return the dog on behalf of the owner.

    Please provide a list with descriptions of all instances of aggression and the dates when they occurred (an approximate date is ok). Include details like where the dog was, who was there, what happened before the event.

    If there were injuries please describe who was injured, where they were injured, the type of injury and how large/deep it was, was skin broken.
