    Why We Do This

G.E.M.S. turns vision into structure — and structure into legacy.

  • 📚 PRESERVATION INITIATIVE: Historical Markers & Research
The Kingville Project is expanding its preservation work through a focused Historical Markers & Planning Initiative — a structured effort to document, protect, and prepare historic sites for long-term recognition and preservation.

With recent preservation funding secured and additional planning grants in progress, we are building a team to strengthen documentation, research, and professional assessments aligned with national preservation standards.

    This is not just storytelling.
    This is preservation planning.

🏛 How You Can Get Involved
We are seeking both community volunteers and professional expertise to support this next phase:

    🔹 Community & Research Volunteers
Conduct and record oral history interviews
Assist with archival and document research
    Gather and digitize historic photographs
    Draft narratives for historical markers
Support community outreach and family engagement

🔹 Technical & Professional Support (Especially Needed)
    Preservation architects
    Landscape architects
    Surveyors
    Engineers
    Contractors with historic structure experience
    Preservation planners
    Real estate feasibility consultants
    Grant writers & fundraising advisors
Your expertise helps move this work from documentation → structured planning, aligned with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.

    🌟 Why This Matters
Through targeted preservation funding and planning efforts, we are:

    Strengthening technical documentation
    Building feasibility and assessment frameworks
    Preparing for long-term site planning
    Expanding public education and awareness
Positioning the project for larger funding opportunities
Preservation requires both community voice and professional guidance.

    We need both.

    📌 What This Supports
    This initiative directly supports:

    Historic structure documentation
    Future landmark recognition efforts
    Stronger planning and grant applications
    Increased funding competitiveness
Long-term sustainability for the Kingville campus
A small grant at the right time can be catalytic.
We are in that catalytic phase.
