    GTHASO Ministry Overview

The GIRL TALK: Help A Sister Out! ministry was founded in 2020 amidst the fear, isolation, and uncertainty of the Coronavirus Pandemic.  GIRL TALK: Help A Sister Out! (GTHASO) started as a sermon topic given to Rev. Alla Mitchell over 25 years ago.    The ministry was divinely mandated by the Lord to begin in 2020, so Rev. Mitchell and daughters Nikki Mitchell and Lauren Mitchell co-founded the ministry and got straight to work.  The group meets Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m. E.S.T. and consists of women from across the United States, including Alaska.  2020 was a prime time for large bicoastal virtual meetings and it was during this time that a community of Christian women believers from all stations and walks of life came together, though the biggest cluster of participants is located in North Carolina.  The women of GTHASO have cried and laughed and supported each other through nearly every milestone imaginable and are still growing in spirit and number.

In 2023, for a second time, God issued a mandate.  With divine guidance at every step, GTHASO had its Inaugural Conference Retreat.  The ladies all converged upon Fort Lauderdale, Florida where many met each other in person for the first time!   Having never collected any monies for the ministry prior to the word to hold a conference retreat, the ladies had to get busy fundraising, trusting that God would not order anything that He would not also pay for.  Prior to the conference retreat and the realization that the group would need to grow to the point of becoming a non-profit, whenever need had arisen for resources or finances within the group, ladies had individually taken it upon themselves to sow into their sisters in need or in celebration out of the generosity of their hearts.  One sister who was homeless even received assistance from others to secure a home and later had a virtual housewarming to help ensure that she had what she needed for a fresh new start.  Another who needed clothing was sent outfits from hundreds of miles away.  Yet another was sent donations to help cover expenses during a rough patch.

And the sharing goes beyond the monetary.  We are also a wealth of information regarding health and resources.  The GTHASO network is a loving and supportive breath of fresh air and we are excited to continue to add to our numbers as we begin to have more programming and exposure.  GTHASO is a ministry with no brick and mortar location of its own to utilize for programming or in person meetings as we act to raise the funds necessary for this year’s events.   We do however have a determined roster of women who carry the God-given promise of blessings to those who bless us!  Our TWO fundraising programs that will be tantamount to the success of this year’s Go Peach For the Beach Fundraising Campaign are the Belk Charity Sale and our Sweet Retreat Bake Sales.  Tickets to the Belk Charity Sale are available by contacting us or by catching us at Belk in Greensboro, NC on Friendly Avenue.

Please take time to follow us on facebook at GIRL TALK: Help A Sister Out, on IG at girltalkhelpasisterout, and look for us on Eventbrite.  And ladies, please be sure to check us out any Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. E.S.T. for our weekly sister circle session.  To join simply call (720) 527-5898 then Access Code: 7710579 or log in virtually at https://join.freeconferencecall.com/girltalkhelpasisterout to get the full virtual experience.

    GTHASO Ministry Highlights

    Featured Testimonials

Louise’s Victory – Louise had recently been widowed after 48 years of marriage and was taken to a nursing home by her children when GIRL TALK: Help a Sister Out! began. She’s always looked forward to enjoying fellowship with her “homegirls”, especially during the pandemic. Louise originally hadn’t walked in 10 years in 2020. She loved to give progress reports as prayer and encouragement helped to motivate her back to full mobility when enduring rehabilitation. We also celebrate the fact that she has been a cancer survivor for over 35 years as of 2023. Louise loves to sing for the ladies, so periodically she sings hymns and songs of joy during weekly sessions. Her life is now filled with reasons to celebrate and a testimony of praise! Her new nickname at her nursing home is Miss Sunshine! She and her new boyfriend were crowned king and queen of the nursing home’s Valentines Social.

  • Sara’s Story – When GIRL TALK: Help A Sister Out! was first formed, “Sara” was living with relatives in a strained relationship and eventually chose to briefly become homeless until doors could open for housing of her own.  The ladies in the GTHASO sister circle prayed and encouraged “Sara” throughout her battle and even helped to send aid and connect her to resources.  Once “Sara” became a homeowner, the ladies of GTHASO threw her a virtual housewarming with fun, games, and gifts.  To quote “Sarah”, “My new sisterly bond remains strong and is a lifeline that goes beyond the weekly meetings. I have gotten some great friendships and a sense of sisterhood from GIRL TALK: Help A Sister Out!”

Rachel’s Healthy New Beginning – “Rachel” has faced very scary health complications during all three years of GTHASO’s ministry.  Were it not for her fellow sisters in the circle, she would’ve even walked out of the hospital while awaiting testing when major surgery was soon necessary.  A doctor had forgotten to enter an order and the nurse was about to give her medicine that was harming her because the STOP order was not entered.  Though it was 11 at night, several ladies from the group came together to pray and one advocated for “Rachel” by helping to call the on-call doctor’s line, until everything was cleared up while “Rachel was able to be convinced to not leave the hospital.  “Rachel” later made it safely through surgery and now takes time to help educate the ladies in the ministry periodically regarding healthy living tips.  On a few occasions, “Rachel” was gifted unexpected monetary gifts from some of the ladies in the group while she was not working and in recovery.  To quote “Rachel”: “I have grown so much spiritually from this wonderful ministry.  These past years have been some of the hardest in my life.  What a blessing to be connected to this growing ministry!  My prayer is that the ministry can receive the support to continue to grow and reach others.  With the right support, the ministry itself (and not just individual ladies) will be able to give to women in need and do great works in many communities.”

Abigail’s Prophetic Word – “Abigail” received instant healing when our visionary founder, Reverend Alla Mitchell called out an ailment that she was experiencing, during prayer.  This was revealed to Rev. Mitchell by none other than God.  And “Abigail” is just ONE of many who have received words of healing or prophecy from Rev. Mitchell or other preachers who participate in our weekly sessions.

Deaconess Sylvia’s Deliverance – Deaconess Sylvia came to the sister circle, having felt discouraged from opening her mouth to do much speaking or participation in church settings due to past “church hurt”. She was also concerned about a relative’s safety and just needed to find her voice again. Thanks to the support of the Girl Talk: Help a Sister Out! sister circle, Deaconess Sylvia heard words and scriptures that helped her out to LIBERATE and EMPOWER her and now openly says things to SPEAK UP and help others out! She’s happy to see the change that the ministry has made in her outlook and life. To quote Deaconess Sylvia, “I’m in a whole different world now. With me growing spiritually and in the love of God, my husband is also growing and we are growing as a couple. The bonds that I have formed make my heart go pitter patter."

  • Elizabeth’s Miracle Healing – Elizabeth was battling cancer when GTHASO was founded.  Like several others in the sister circle, she had never met any of the women of the sister circle but instantly knew that she’d found her tribe of sisterly love and support.  The ladies pray during sessions and independently for and with Elizabeth.  Elizabeth’s recent testimony is that she’s now CANCER FREE and we all believe and have faith with her that her cancer-free status will remain!  Please join us in that prayer.

All donations and sponsorships are greatly needed and greatly appreciated!  We by no means want to limit or discourage any gift, sponsorship, donation, or resource.  All donors will be prominently listed and thanked throughout our Conference Retreat weekend and online as well as at all Go Peach For the Beach Fundraising Campaign functions.  For business donors, we will be sure to encourage patronizing the businesses that contributed to supporting us and our efforts.

A big part of our initiative with every event is to help birth new connections and elevate platforms – including spiritual, personal, and even business platforms.  GTHASO is an “ElevateHER to EmpowHERment!”  Our goal is to attract female owned businesses to build awareness and support and to all grow spiritually while enjoying this beautiful sister circle that we are building.  So many women had to pivot during the pandemic and are still trying to get or stay established economically.  We have purposefully created ways to uplift, motivate, and sustain businesses and the power of the female demographic with saving and spending.

Therefore, if and when possible our events will have onsite vendors even if digital/virtual and an ad book.  Any sponsor, donor, or vendor who participates in person on site, will automatically be featured in our ad book; however, for those who will not be participating on site, there is an ad book pricing tier listed below.
