  • OCA-Member Legacy Scholarship: Student Application

    Application period runs from August through November, and again from December through May. Awards will be announced December first, and June first. Applications will be accepted until funds are exhausted, or until the last day of June each year.

    THE OCA-MEMBER LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP IS ALL ABOUT WHO YOU KNOW, AND QUALIFICATION IS AS SIMPLE AS 1...2...3!!

    1. We hear you are interested in exploring our industry as a possible career.
    2. AND we hear you know someone who is connected to an OCA-Member Company
    3. AND we hear that someone is so connected and well thought of within the company, that the OCA-Member company has decided to sponsor YOU with a $2,000.00 scholarship award. NOT ONLY THAT, to keep you connected to the industry, your sponsoring company has agreed to employ you during the summer break between years one and two of your training/education. 

    Just to confirm your eligiblity for an OCA-Member Legacy Scholarship:

    • You must demonstrate a desire to work in the industry in Ohio, and;
    • You must be a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of the state of Ohio.
    • You must be a high school senior or on-track to graduate high school during the year of application submission (completion of a Graduate Equivalent Degree (G.E.D.) are welcomed), or a new graduate entering the first-year of training/education, and;
    • You must be committed to use the scholarship award to fiance training/education (including required industry equipment) at a post-secondary institution of learning that requires a high school diploma or Graduate Equivalent Degree (G.E.D.) for admission, or through an OCA member willing to sponsor you into the trades. This could include any public or private: (a) four-year accredited college or university; (b) two-year accredited college; or (c) vocational technical college; (d) training institution; (e) an OCA member willing to sponsor you into the trades, and;
    • You must agree to engage in work offered by your Sponsoring Company at minimum during the summer break between years one and two of your education/training, and;
    • You must demonstrate financial need.

    All sections of this application form must be completed and submitted on the Jotform app. Scholarships will be awarded in November and June. If you apply and do not receive a Legacy scholarship in the fall, your application will automatically be considered again in the spring.

    CRITERIA
    1. Selection of recipients will be based upon evaluation of all completed applications received.

    2. The student may be asked to submit a copy of their high school diploma or G.E.D., or expected date of graduation and name of institution.

    3. A hiring manager/executive from the student’s sponsoring firm must complete the recommendation form associated with this scholarship.
