A word about Godparents

A Godparent (sponsor) for baptism MUST be a fully initiated Catholic (having received baptism and Confirmation), at least 16 years of age and living a life in full communion with the Catholic Church and Catholic way of life. Only one godparent (sponsor) is necessary for baptism. A baptized non-Catholic (Episcopalian, Lutheran, Methodist, etc) may act as a "Christian Witness" along with the other godparent. the godparents (or godparent and Christian witness) mayu not be of the same gender.
