  • Alumni Mentorship Registration

    From sharing lessons learned and stories of success, to exploring industry and post-secondary insights, the St. Michael's College Alumni Mentorship Program (AMP for short) is your opportunity to connect with other alumni to share your skills as a mentor. For mentee's, the program is an opportunity to connect with professionals in fields of interest to you and learn from their experience. The Alumni Mentorship Program is a joint venture of the SMC Advancement Office and the SMC Campus Life Office.

  • Mentor Role & Responsibilities

    • Mentors will consent to submitting a headshot, descriptive self-introduction, basic career and educational information to be shared in our password protected AMPlify Mentor Directory (housed on the St. Mike's Website).
    • Mentors will promptly respond to and set up meetings with AMPlify Mentees that reach out to them over email and LinkedIn. 
    • Mentors will seek to provide provide career advice to upper-year students and recent graduates of the University of St. Michael's College. Participants are expected to keep any other interests and intentions strictly outside of the Program activities.
    • Mentors will attend AMPlify events with the goal of meeting and providing mentorship to upper-year students and recent graduates. Events may include Speed Networking, Pub Nights, and Resume/Cover Letter Workshops (in which Mentors provide feedback).
    • Mentors will join the USMC AMPlify LinkedIn group and seek to be active participants of the AMPlify community. 
    • To fully register, Mentors will attend one virtual Orientation session.

    Mentee Role & Responsibilities

    • Mentees will use the AMPlify Mentor Directory (housed on the St. Mike's Website) to seek out Mentors. Mentees will respect the privacy of all Mentors by refraining from sharing their contact information outside the AMPlify program (unless given explicit consent from the Mentor.)
    • Mentees will commit to reaching out to Mentors via email or LinkedIn to set up "Coffee Chats" and receive career advice. Participants are expected to keep any other interests and intentions strictly outside of the Program activities.
    • Mentees will join the USMC AMPlify LinkedIn group and seek to be active participants of the AMPlify community. 
    • To fully register, Mentees will attend one virtual Orientation session.

  • Potential mentees will have access to reading about your career/professional experiences on our Mentor Directory. Below we ask you to write a blurb describing yourself.

    In your blurb, please, include:

    • Graduating year from SMC
    • Relevant information about your educational background (eg. what degrees you've earned, your areas of study, post-secondary schools you've attended)
    • Relevant information about your career path
    • Discussion topics that you would feel comfortable providing mentorship about
      • Some ideas could include: career exploration, landing a first job, BIPOC identity in the work place, LGBTQIA+ identity in the work place, working abroad, unions, virtual work, hybrid work, first generation, marriage and family, childcare and employment, etc.
    • Optional: why you are excited about providing mentorship to current students and recent graduates
