William Hogarth’s altarpiece is one of the most significant historical artefacts associated with St Mary Redcliffe, but is not currently on public display.
As part of Project 450, St Mary Redcliffe’s facilities development project, we plan to create a new home for the three paintings by building a new gallery to the north of the church, as part of a complex of new visitor facilities. These will include a new visitor welcome at street level, an. accessible entrance and accessible toilets, new exhibition and interpretation spaces, a new cafe and a new home for the choir.
We’d love to know what you think about our plan to create a new gallery and make the altarpiece publically accessible. Please leave your comments below.
