The Medical Assistant program at Utah State University Blanding is two semesters (32 weeks) that includes 160 hours of practicum or 30 credit hours. To be accepted into the program, the student must have the following:
- Applied for and have been accepted to Utah State University
- Completed the required pre-requisites
- Submit a completed application to the MA Program
- Completed a background check and drug screen. The cost of performing this is approximately $91.00
- Paid a student organization and national testing fee of $160
- Completed required immunizations or titers
- GPA of 3.0 or higher

A stethoscope and closed-toe shoes will be required and the cost is the responsibility of the student. Each student will be required to purchase at least one pair of scrubs with USU logo for clinical rotations through Health Professions.
The MA Program runs consecutively every spring and fall semester. Formal graduation is once a year in April. A certificate of completion will be offered upon successful completion of the program. The student is expected to complete either the national certifying examination through American Medical Technologists (AMT) or the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA_
The student may walk with the graduating class in April, but if clinical rotations are not complete, the student will not receive a certificate of completion until this requirement is met. Also, the student MUST apply for and pay for graduation by the stated deadline in the semester in which they will complete their courses.
The student has the option to attend this course in a blended format. The following classes are available for delivery via IVC to outreach learning centers:
