Turncoat Debate
"If you're honest with yourself, it's not a fun thing."
Turncoat debate is a unique form of debate in which a participant is required to argue for and against a motion in a single speech, within a given period of time. At a certain point, or at the judge's direction, the participant must switch sides and begin arguing for the opposing view. In essence, it is a debate with oneself that requires knowledge and understanding of both sides of the argument. This type of debate challenges participants to think critically and deeply about the issue at hand, and to consider multiple perspectives and viewpoints. While it may not always be a fun thing, the turncoat debate is an excellent way to develop critical thinking skills and to hone one's ability to argue persuasively.
