  • Downtown Canton Partnership 2026 Event Grant Program

  • The Downtown Canton Partnership (DCP) is offering a grant program for events occurring within downtown Canton, specifically within the boundaries of the Special Improvement District.

The purpose of the Downtown Canton Partnership Grant Program is to support organizations that host events which generate increased economic vitality in Downtown Canton. The DCP is committed to supporting events that drive visitors to restaurants, retail spaces, museums, galleries, theatres, cultural locations, and event venues such as Canton Centennial Plaza.

Grant Application Opens: March 8, 2026
Grant Application Closes: March 27, 2026 at 5:00 PM
Applications submitted after the deadline will not be reviewed.

    Eligibility

Any organization hosting a community-wide event within Downtown Canton (as defined by the Special Improvement District boundaries) may apply for this grant. Political events are not eligible. Private ticketed events—including nonprofit fundraisers—may apply but must clearly demonstrate how the event contributes to downtown’s economic vitality.

    Additional eligibility requirements:

    • All approved events must include the Downtown Canton Partnership logo on relevant marketing materials
    • All grant payments must be issued to established organizations; funds cannot be issued to individuals.
    • If an event is canceled for any reason, grant funds must be returned in full.

Factors That Contribute to Event Funding

    • Events that are free and open to the public will likely receive more funding than private or ticketed events.

    • Estimated economic impact, including expected visitation of restaurants, bars, retail stores, cultural destinations, and other downtown establishments.

    • Past success of similar events (if the event is established).

    • Description of what will be new or improved for repeat events.

    • A clear explanation of how grant funds will be used.

    • Whether the applicant received a grant within the current or previous year.

    Suggestions for Supporting Downtown Businesses

To help strengthen the impact of events happening in Downtown Canton, organizers are encouraged to include nearby downtown businesses in their event planning, their selection of services (catering, event space, etc.), and outreach. Simple ways to do this include:

    • Mentioning nearby businesses in event maps, schedules, or informational materials.

    • Highlighting downtown businesses in a few pre-event social media posts.

    • Selecting downtown businesses to host and cater your events.

    • Informing restaurants, bars, and retailers when your event may increase foot traffic.

These small steps help ensure that events benefit the broader downtown business community.

    Accountability Requirements

To help the Downtown Canton Partnership measure impact and responsibly manage resources, all awarded organizations agree to complete the following after their event:

    1. Attendance Reporting- Provide an estimated attendance count and a brief note on how that estimate was determined.

    2. Logo Usage Confirmation- Submit digital examples showing the Downtown Canton Partnership logo included on event marketing materials.

    3. Short Post-Event Testimonial- Provide a 2–5 sentence written testimonial describing how the grant supported the event.

    Community Coordination Expectation

The Downtown Canton Partnership works closely with the City of Canton, the Centennial Plaza, and other downtown entities to support well‑managed events that reflect positively on the district.

Event organizers are expected to communicate promptly, meet reasonable deadlines, and coordinate with the appropriate city or venue partners. Events that are not properly organized or fail to meet important deadlines may not be considered for future grant cycles.

    Approval Process

All organizations and events are subject to review and approval by the Downtown Canton Partnership Board of Directors or an appropriate committee. Applications are reviewed each spring. If funds remain, a second round of applications may open later in the year.

Applicants will be notified of funding decisions in a reasonable timeframe. Late submissions will not be considered unless pre‑approved within the grant cycle.

Grant funds are awarded for the specific project and year indicated in the application and do not guarantee future support.

The Downtown Canton Partnership Grant Funds are intended to support events but should not constitute the full event budget. Grant funds may not exceed 50% of the total event revenue.

The Downtown Canton Partnership reserves the right to request proof of matching funds when necessary and may approve a different grant amount than requested.

Annual eligibility criteria, applications, and review processes are subject to change. Applicants should confirm details each year.
