• Instrumental Lessons

If you would like your child to begin instrumental lessons, please complete the form below.

    Who Can Learn?

Lessons are available for all pupils in Years 2–8 on standard orchestral instruments (brass, strings, woodwind, percussion), as well as piano, voice, harp, classical guitar, electric guitar, and drum kit.

Year 2 pupils may start learning the cello, violin, recorder, or piano.

    Lesson Details

Individual 30-minute lessons are delivered by our experienced and talented self-employed Visiting Music Teachers (VMTs).

The cost for 2026 - 2027 will be approximately £27 per lesson, set by the VMTs.

Pupils usually receive around 27 lessons per year.

Individual contracts are arranged directly between parents and the VMT.

    Ensembles

When pupils reach the appropriate level, we strongly recommend that they join a school ensemble (free of charge), as this is a wonderful opportunity to make music with others and significantly enhance their musical progress. Parents will be contacted when this opportunity arises.

Our ensembles are a cornerstone of the Music Department, offering pupils the chance to collaborate, share a musical journey, and create lasting memories through performances, tours, and special events.

Accompanist Fees for Exams for 2026 - 2027

If your child requires an accompanist for a music exam, the following charges will be added to your school invoice (in addition to the exam fee):

    Grades 1–2: £27 per exam (30 minutes)
    Grades 3+: £37 per exam (42 minutes)
