Footprints Dance Project offers a summer dance program at no cost to youth.
Students aged 11-17 receive high quality dance instruction in
hip-hop, contemporary, spoken word and performance.
No previous experience is required!
Only 40 students will be accepted to the program.
Scholarships are valued at $1,200.
In exchange for the free program students are asked to commit to the entire duration of the program, which runs weekdays 9:30-4:30pm, August 6-22, 2024.
It is our mandate to ensure that our limited program spaces are accessed by applicants whose lives would be most impacted by attending Footprints Dance Project.
To qualify for our program we require:
A reference from a community member to confirm that the student meets our criteria:
References can be provided by a principal, teacher, coach, youth worker, school or family counselor, or other community service organizations serving new immigrants, low income, special needs and underserved Calgarians. (not related to the applicant)
Students must be faced with one or more of the following situations:
The applicant has socio-economic barriers to accessing dance or arts programs.
The applicant is vulnerable socially, academically or emotionally.
The applicant has a lack of supervision or care.
Students must commit to the duration of the program. Classes are held at the Decidedly Jazz Dance Centre - 111-12 Ave SE close to Victoria Park/Stampede C-Train.
Students must arrange for their own transportation to and from the program as well as their own lunch/snacks. Bus passes are available upon request.
Students must agree to be filmed for inclusion in our summer intensive video.
